When I was morbidly obese the casual look was always a problem, not helped because I have little stumpy legs: So, I was wide and short. I was relatively fine with dressing appropriately for work, formal or party, but casual always got me. (BTW when I dress, I dress smartly, so for me casual always means smart casual. Scruffy casual would never happen.) Anyway back to the plot. The challenge was jeans were uncomfortable, restricting, hard work (all that tugging up) and, in my opinion, unattractive. I always felt overdressed, and I was never happy about it.

As I have lost weight I have found this easier, and of course the blessed Elastane has come into existence. I am still as short, but I am not as wide. I accept that I am ‘chunky’ that is not going to change, but that’s my mam’s fault for marrying a short, strongly built man, so my genes were never going to give me long legs or a fine boned build. But now I can wear jeans, not skinny jeans, my calves won’t allow them, but that’s OK because there are lots of other styles available, and I feel fantastic.

I love clothes (See https://www.glenyschatterley.uk.com/i-love-clothes/) but, in particular, I love jeans. I explore looks, I play with clothes and, I love dressing casually. My current favourite look is a sort of ‘aging rock chick’ so I’m buying leather jackets in all sorts of colours and I’m thinking tweeds might come into my life when we get to winter again. Who knows? That’s the fun of this exciting experience I’m going through.

Anyone want to go out for a casual coffee (and probably a sticky bun)?
